Shafts Our hand carved asymmetrical ovoid indexed shafts are commonly stringer style of Sassafrass and Ash, or plate style of Ash and Spruce. Shaft sizes vary but generally are around 1.125 by 1.375 inches. Pothole Paddles come standard with a straight shaft, but our exclusive wooden bent shaft paddles are also available.
